Children's Saltwater Fishing Camp
As
the proverb says,
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach
a man to fish
and you feed him for the rest of his life."
Teach children to fish and you nourish their body and soul for life.
Unfortunately , many children are missing out on one of life's most
pleasurable pursuits. This part of the academy is strictly supervised
with safety in mind.
State law requires all child anglers to wear safety devices during
their time on the water. The academy provides the campers with Coast
Guard approved life-preservers, as well as, all the other necessary
equipment. This is a 41/2 half-day camp using light tackle in the bay
and close to shore to avoid sea sickness. This is to ensure a relatively
easy run back to the dock when patience and energy runs out or weather
turns sour.
My goal here is to make this introduction as pleasant and successful
as possible. Everything— is "spectacular" from the smallest fish to the
shortest cast. The children will be instructed in basic fishing
techniques such as proper rod handling, casting, fish fighting
techniques, knots, bait identification and much more depending upon
skill level and age.
Fishing's not just fishing. These trips are broken up by moving from
spot to spot , checking the salt marsh and its many wildlife inhabitants
and landing on islands for shelling and exploration. If it's one thing I
take great pleasure in and tremendous reward from is turning a child
onto saltwater fishing especially at an early age. This is absolutely a
key factor in the preservation of this great sport fishing industry.
Introduce your child to the wonderful world of saltwater fishing
today!
